To celebrate national tree planting day, Summer Reading Club participants had the opportunity to plant a variety of native trees.
The trees were planted at Peakhurst Park under the supervision of Bush care officer Heather Stolle. The children enjoyed digging and getting their hands dirty. I am sure we have a few future arborists and landscapers.
The event was run as part of the prizes awarded to the participants of Hurstville Libraries Summer Reading Club; which runs during the summer school holidays and aims to promote reading and literacy during the holidays.
This year’s summer reading club will run from the 1st of December to the 31st of January. The library’s What’s On page will have further details closer to this date.
